Chocolate Sea Salt Protein Brownie

One of the only downsides to officially ushering in the holiday season (a.k.a. the day after halloween), is the end of daylight savings. It’s the worst. Not only is it starting to get dark earlier anyway, we are now losing an additional hour of precious evening light.

5:30pm now feels like midnight. Awesome.

Despite the early onset darkness that now plagues our country, the cure to lifting your spirits might be easier (and tastier) than you think. Make some brownies! But not just any brownies (because let’s save those calories for grandma’s pie at thanksgiving), we’re talking about chocolate sea salt protein brownies! Yum!

The best part?

They don’t actually require any baking… (we know, this just made your day. Us too!)

All you need are the normal ingredients you already have listed below, 10 minutes, and a microwave. So when you get home and fumble for the keys in the dark at 5pm, give this recipe a try. You’ll be feeling cozy and content in no time!

Time Allotment: 

5 minute prep | 5 minute total cooktime

Ingredients: 

  • 1 scoop of chocolate protein powder

  • 1 tbsp of nut butter of choice

  • 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil

  • 1 tsp flax seed or oat flour

  • 1 tsp maple syrup

  • 1/2 tsp of cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup of almond milk (might need a splash more)

  • Dash of sea salt on top!

Directions: 

  1. Dump all ingredients into a microwave safe bowl and mix well. You may need to play around with the protein powder to almond milk ratio (depends on how big your scoop is), but you want the "batter" to be pretty thick. If it comes out too dry, you can add a little more nut butter or coconut oil the next time around.

  2. Microwave for 1:30-2:00 minutes .

  3. Let sit for 2-5 minutes (needs to cool and set).

  4. Enjoy!
